New On The Catwalk

Massey University

We are committed to excellence in distance education and our programmes and short courses allow students to fit study around work, social or family commitments. Our qualifications are internationally-accredited and recognised by relevant professional bodies. Our distance courses involve studying course material from home and completing assessments. It can also involve coming to on-campus courses or using our online learning environment. For more than 50 years Massey University has been taking the best of New Zealand innovation and creativity beyond its campuses – to students, researchers, industries and communities throughout the nation and around the world. Distance learning is a defining feature of Massey University and our programme is recognised as world leading.

Our Strategy

Our internationalisation strategy aims to take Massey University to the world so that our students, wherever they are based, experience a unique education with a distinctive Massey flavour, and our academic community is engaged in knowledge-sharing with scholars and researchers from all parts of the globe. We are pleased to announce an exciting new platform in that strategy – the development of Massey University Worldwide, a model under which we will expand our defining course offerings to learners living overseas in partnership with international governments and organisations. This initiative is designed to meet the specific needs of cohorts in targeted regions and countries, backed by our experience and expertise in flexible, blended learning.

Our Partnerships

Through developing partnerships with relevant international agencies, organisations and governments, Massey University Worldwide will enable learners across the globe to have access to breakthrough New Zealand thinking and a unique learning experience. Massey is already doing significant work in this area. We have courses operating with partners such as the World Bank, the Singapore Government, Qatar Airlines and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. The development of the Massey University Worldwide brand allows a consolidated and focused approach to enhance existing relationships, grow new ones and deliver tailored educational solutions in strategically targeted regions.

In practical terms, what it means for staff is the opportunity to engage more with those international partners and with international students based in their own countries. It will mean more short-course offerings for domestic and international students and the opportunity for staff to develop those courses and qualifications to meet the needs of our partner organisations. The success of this strategy will be evident in a curriculum that is truly internationalised, reflected by an increasingly diverse ethnic mix in our staff and students and resulting in graduates ready and able to excel in business across international boundaries and cultures.
